Special Equipment that obtains images from different types of positions and angels. It then has the ability to combine them together to show the various cross sections of the jaw linings. It not only does that but also can show the nerves, maxillary, mandibular sinuses and other anatomical landmarks. It does not take a long time, and has very little radiation exposure. CT scanning is a great aid to diagnosis periodontal and or implantology services.

What is a Panoramic Image?

An image that produces an x-ray of the teeth that lines around the teeth and jaw on a single film. Panoramic films belong to the extraoral category of dental x-rays because the film is outside the mouth. The panoramic film provides to the dentist a good view of the maxilla and mandible as well the whole dentition. Panoramic films also provide a partial view of the temporal mandibular joint. One of the major advantages of the panoramic films is the short time required to acquire the image. Panoramic films are widely used by dentist because it provides a comprehensive “panoramic” view of the maxilla and mandible. It is commonly used for evaluation of the wisdom teeth or for the evaluation of potential fractures in trauma cases.

What is a Cephalometric Image?

Known as a diagnostic radiograph used primarily for orthodontic treatment. Similar to taking a regular panoramic image but instead of concentrating on the patients jaw and mouth the ceph concentrates on the caputured image of the entire skull and profile. Mostly used to have a diagnosis of any problem involving with the jaw and bite that might need improvement with orthodontic treatment known as dental braces.
